“City of Hamilton Night” at the Reds Game – July 30th, 2010

July 30th was “City of Hamilton Night” at the Great American Ball Park.  The Reds played the Atlanta Braves to kick off the first game of the series.  Mayor Pat Moeller was honored to throw the ceremonial first pitch to the West Side Little League catcher, David Hughes.  Several Council members participated in the pregame ceremonies which included the presentation of a check to the Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund.  Joe’s son, Kim Nuxhall, accepted the check of $2,010 from council members Carla Fiehrer, Kathy Klink, Bob Brown, Tim Naab and Mayor Pat Moeller.

The gift from the city was timely as July 30th was also the birthday of “Hamilton Joe” Joe Nuxhall, who died in 2007.

Hamilton city’s police and fire honor guard with the Hamilton High School JROTC participated in the program activities as well.

The evening was finished with a beautiful fireworks display over the stadium and the Ohio River.
